At Milan Design Week, Artnovation takes African heritage to the global stage, showcasing how the story of Olumo Rock inspires innovation, material exploration, and cross-continental collaboration in design.
ARTNOVATION: THE ROCK THAT REMEMBERS
Artnovation: The Rock That Remembers sees Olumo Rock as more than a place. It is a living story of memory, resilience, and creativity. The exhibition explores how landscapes carry stories, how materials speak across cultures, and how design connects heritage to innovation.
The project uses five paintings and five fashion pieces to share Olumo Rock’s essence: Origin, Legacy, Memory, Material, and Future. Each combines AI-generated prints, hand-painted textures, and Nigerian fabrics like Adire and Ojude Aso. The fashion works pair local craft with Milan lace, creating a dialogue between Yoruba and Italian roots.
